A primary school in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, has landed an £8k grant to support children in developing a love for reading.
Temple Sutton Primary School, which is part of Learning in Harmony Trust (LiHT), received the generous grant from Foyle's Library Scheme, which aims to help schools across the country provide books and library facilities to their pupils.
Due to the additional funds, the school will be able to purchase a wide range of new literary texts as well as make updates to their library and provide a quiet place for the children to read.
A core aim of the school is to offer pupils a range of opportunities to find a love of core subjects outside of the classroom. The school is committed, not just to ensuring that each child leaves the school with strong literary abilities but being excited to discover new adventures through reading.
The children have really enjoyed receiving the new books and reading all about novel and exciting topics.
Ola Laniyan, head of school at Temple Sutton Primary School, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received such an important investment in our pupils’ education.
"We are very grateful to the team at Foyles for helping us support our pupils and giving them the opportunity to find a book that inspires their love of reading."
